Architectural Precision for Scale Model Scenery
CJM Models required a reliable method to produce highly realistic architectural components for custom model railway scenery. The brief focused on transforming 2mm and 3mm grey and white boards into intricate brickwork, masonry and structural archways. A key requirement was achieving a specific depth of engrave that would remain prominent even after the client applied layers of scenic paint and primer.

To meet the rigorous standards of scale modelling, we used precision laser engraving to "etch" the mortar lines and brick textures into the surface of the boards. By calibrating our laser for a deep-profile engrave, we ensured that the architectural details possessed enough relief to catch shadows and highlights, a vital feature for realistic scale model photography and display.
Once the surface textures were complete, we used high-speed laser cutting to profile the sheets into the specific dimensions required for final assembly. Laser cutting these materials ensures perfectly square edges and consistent geometry, making the subsequent construction phase much easier for the client. This project highlights our ability to work with delicate paper-based boards to create high-value components for the hobbyist and professional model-making industries.
