The Royal British Legion
Commemorative Branding for the Poppy Appeal

To honour these historic milestones, we moved away from standard plastic components and opted for a natural, tactile finish using high-grade Laserply. This material allows for exceptionally fine detail, which was essential given the small diameter of the buttons and the precision required for the commemorative text.
Our involvement spanned two major historical commemorations:
2016: We produced custom buttons to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Battle of the Somme.
2017: We were commissioned again to create a matching series to commemorate the Centenary of the Battle of Passchendaele.
We used a dual process: first, laser engraving the specific anniversary text onto the wood, and then laser cutting the circular button shapes and thread holes. This ensured a clear, professional edge that wouldn't snag the delicate crochet wool. These wooden centres provided a sophisticated, artisan finish to the poppies, helping them stand out as special-edition pieces for the Royal British Legion's appeal.
